Note: a 1941 Santa Fe Super Chief and Chief brochure (http://streamlinermemories.info/SF/SF41ChiefSuperChief.pdf) mentions that "Inasmuch as the Super Chief and Chief are both superb extra fare streamliners, for first-class travel only, their accommodations and services are almost identical. Hence these natural color photographs and brief descriptions apply equally to either train" this strongly implies that that most cars were almost identical, which by extension implies that the interior colors of the Chief 17-1 sleeper, 8-2-2 sleeper, 4-4-2 sleeper, and 4-1 observation were the same as the interior colors used in the Super Chief versions of these sleepers.
